Reinforce Your Weakest Points
Gable ends are one of the most vulnerable areas during a severe wind event.
What Are Gables?
A gable end is typically constructed using wood frame even if your home is concrete block. The bottom chord of the gable, where the wood frame sits on the top of the concrete block is determined to be the weakest area of a gable. It is very important to install proper connectors on the bottom chord.
What Can Be Done?
There are several methods to achieve this retrofit at a low cost. When we brace a gable, we strengthen the bottom chord, gable wall, as well as the roof trusses. This creates a continuous load path called "C" bracing.
